Military Pagan Network incorporates and expands service
Ellicott City, MD - September 6, 1997: After years of collecting data and assisting Neopagans in the military, the Military Pagan Network has taken steps to insure its survival.
On August 15, 1997 John Machate, Coordinator and founder of the Military Pagan Network, filed the Articles of Incorporation of the Military Pagan Network with the State of Maryland. A few days following, the newly incorporated organization bought its presence on the internet by establishing the domain milpagan.org with InterNic.
As of September 1, 1997 the Military Pagan Network has expanded its focus to include assisting military members with the proper handling of harassment and discrimination. The new division has been dubbed Harassment Affairs and is lead by its Director, Stephanie Urquhart. She is assisted by a members of MPN from each service, who have learned the proper procedures for filing grievances within their military Department.
Founded in 1992, the Military Pagan Network Inc. acted as a store and group information resource for Neopagans in the military. The corporation now provides material regarding various Neopagan religions to the Chaplaincy, as well as fulfilling its original goal of providing contacts near military bases around the world. In 1997 the corporation expanded its services to include assisting military members with the proper handling of harassment and discrimination.
